Are school suspensions that forceful a punishment? I'd say detention is worse.

Suspension was always a holiday to me.

To me too. A week of not having to wake up at 7 am and having the house to yourself while the parents are at work.

Horrible punishment that is.

If my son got detention, I could deal. If he was suspended, I would lay an egg.

He would reply to this with suspension being a big deal because he knows momma would come unglued.

I agree with your position. How much of a punishment suspension truly is lies heavily on the parents. Responsible parents will see to it that the "vacation" is less than pleasant.

i loved suspension... so when i was tired of school... i would just go hit someone i hated.

I was an honors student and the faculty never expected if from me... and because my mom was ok with my grades/activities... she didnt care. plus i was the best kid of her 5 in school... she figured if she got a call and no one was in the hospital, bleeding, or in jail... then it wasnt exactly a big deal. It probably helped that i was kid #4 and the one ahead of me was REALLY bad... so i looked like an angel lol

I think I've been suspended from school only once. I had to do ISS (in school suspension), which is basically detention, for a whole week once too. That was fucking torture. Yeah, the latter is 10X worse.

My daughter would be on punishment if she were suspended from school, so it wouldn't be much of a vacation for her.

I've never been suspended, but did have to go to "Saturday School" plenty of times. Ugh now that sucked, 8-3 on a Saturday? We spend first half in the library doing nothing (we were supposed to be handwriting pages from the dictionary) then second half walking school grounds cleaning up trash.
