    ....would you fess up?

Honestly, I am not sure what I would do. I would feel like it bought me some really bad Karma, so I would probably tell them.

It happened to my guy today. He did not fess up. It was at Home Depot and it was labeled wrong by the department, so hopefully nobody has their wages garnished for it.

I think that only happens to the cashier when the register comes up short, Red. They have loss every day from theft & sticker switches I'm not even sure it could be traced to anything specific.

To answer the question, like you I can't say with 100% certainty. I'd like to think I would but until placed in that situation I just don't know for sure.

I would tell the cashier if they gave me too much change (usually) but I think I would keep my mouth shut about that screw up.

I usually tell when they make an error. The ONE time that i did not... was when I ordered a bunch of levi's from kohls.com They never have my size/style in the store... so when they go on sale, then have the kohls bucks coupons, I by them online. The $45 jeans I wound up getting for $12 a pair due to the discounts and my coupons. However, I bought 10 pair, same size and same style (i wear them at work... really comfie)... 4 pairs did not fit!

So i returned the four pairs... the thing is that even though i told the cashier at the store about the coupons, she returned me the regular price, not the sale price. The only reason i did not fight this was because when I reordered them, it was too late to get the sale and coupon discount... so i had to pay full price. In my head it was an even exchange and therefore i wasnt in the wrong.

Undercharging and giving back too much change are two different things.

there was one time that i accidentally stole a lipstick from CVS (I should have had a cart waiting for a script, and i was holding everything in my hand... when i pulled out my credit card from my pocket, i must have slipped the lipstick in... the next day i went back and told the cashier "ring me up for this lipstick, i accidentally stole it last night"

It was $6... they thought i was nuts!

I'd probably give myself away by saying something like "Oh! That must have been marked down pretty good" or "Wow! Was this on clearance?"

We got a free camera like that a few years ago. My wife came home and was looking at the receipt and realized they never rung it up.

I'd probably let them know at the register. I'm not a good liar and I've yet to get away with even a minor infraction so why start there?
