Re: Dog bites
Once when I was a kid we had a dog that bit me. Nothing serious and nothing happened but my father got rid of the dog eventually because he bit other people.

Re: Dog bites
Just a little bite on my finger from a cocker spaniel when I worked for a Veterinarian. The doc bandaged it and put some antibiotic ointment on it. (which was for animals).

Re: Dog bites
I've been bitten by cats more times than dogs. As a kid I believed in biting back.

Re: Dog bites
i had a dalmatian that i loved dearly... but she was very very dominant. when i first got her, she bit my leg as i was trying to walk thru the door before her. I punched that bitch right in the face to show her who was the alpha... and it was NOT her. she wasnt hurt.. and after that we NEVER had an incident again... i could reach down her throat and pull out aluminum foil or anything else she should not have been eating... and would rinse out her ears and brush her teeth although she hated it.... but she NEVER EVER tried to bite me again.
Keep in mind that she was 100 pounds... and i couldnt take shit off of her... she also had a sensitivity problem... she really didnt feel things (there is a toe test you can do to determine if ur dog has this problem)... so she was not injured.
i loved that dog with alllll my heart and miss her dearly... she would have killed/taken a bullet for me... and i would have given her my kidney if it meant keeping her around for years to come.

Re: Dog bites
I had a dog and was bitten by him a number of times, but not viciously. Never been bit by an angry dog....the closest I ever came was having a neighbors guard dog bite my pants leg, but he missed the skin.

Re: Dog bites
Strange that I forgot about the dog who bit me a year ago while riding my bike.
I even posted it on the blog here:

Re: Dog bites
Twice, once by my aunts dog Jenny, she didn't break the skin and neither did I.
The second time I was trick or treating ans a little rat of a dog ran out and bit me, I ran home crying. I don't remember if it broke the skin or not. But I have never liked small dogs for that reason.
I was bitten more times by my sons beloved cat Morris. After our son grew up and was flitting around trying to find a job we of course kept Morris. One holiday season I caught the flu, it was the worst flu I ever experienced and I was in bed about a week. Morrie lay by the bed by my side the entire time, he left only to eat or use the kitty box. After that he never bit me again.

Was it true affection or was he just enjoying the fever heat.

Re: Dog bites
He never slept on our bed, during that flu he slept on the floor beside my side of the bed.I think he was afraid the hand that fed him might die! But he never bit me again, he wasn't affectionate either. 3 or 4 little kids (where he was born) and 3 teenagers in our house made him very intolerant. He was a short haired cat, and when our son brought him home his hair had been clipped in spots! From there the teasing got worse. Having experienced nice cats since then, recently our son said "Morris really as an awful cat".Shale wrote:

At the end of his life he again chose to be near me but not in my bed, he slept in a rocking chair beside my side of the bed.

Re: Dog bites
I was bitten once years ago. Not badly and nothing came of it except I think the dog developed lock jaw. Early in our marriage we were visiting friends who owned a wolf/Alaskan Malamute mix. Friendly "dog" but he played rough. Grabbed a hold of my wife by the wrist and bit almost through her watch. Didn't break the skin though.

Re: Dog bites
I have to say here that those wolf-dog mixes bring out the worst of both animals in one. It should be against the law in fact to deliberately breed wolves with dogs.

Re: Dog bites
Just on a whim I searched to see if anyone ever bred a wolf with a chihuahua. Fortunately none were found.
Which is good. Can you imagine a wolf with this personality?

Once when I was a kid. It was my cousins dog. The bite wasn't bad enough to need stitches or anything, but it left a mark. Nothing happened to the dog because his job was to bite people.
