She stayed home AND worked, she did medical transcribing and jobs for the radio station from home so she could do that while we slept and then teach us in the morning.

My mom worked in a factory until she remarried. Then I recall they discussed if it was even beneficial tax wise for her to work part time. Anyhow she worked at the Jr. High cafeteria (while I went there - but moms were not the embarrassment then as they are now).

She definitely was a stay-at-home mom. Never worked outside her home a day in her life.

my mom was in Air force, then worked for govt for 42 yrs... and she put up with a whole lotta shit raising 5 kids due to a dead hubby! what bothers me is that she puts down my sister who is 50yrs old and has always been a stay at home mom--- she'll tell my sis, "just imagine if you had to do ALL that AND work"... but honestly, my mom was the "man" in the family and made the money--- while my sis was the "woman" and raised the kids and house--- until she got married and had her own kids.

Nope. She said she attempted to do the stay at home thing after I was born, but by the time I could walk she went back to work.

My Mom was a teenager when she had me, and ended up working 11-7 in a photo finishing lab (camera film and 8mm video reels--no digital back then!). She would sleep during the day when I was at school and would do her thing as Girl Scout troop leader after school, or whatever needed doing with me.

My mom stayed at home with my two older brothers when they were very young. When my second oldest brother was 4, she went back to work.
