The cobalt blue one in the center of this photo (below) sells for about $350, but I won this one on Ebay for $120--that's the most I've ever paid for an insulator, but even at that price, it was a steal!

That is a very nice collection, the lavender ones are highly prized in Arizona where collectors collect any glass the sun has turned lavender.

I used to have some beautiful pieces made from the ash that spewed from Mt St Helens in the eighties. There were two types; jade green and cream colored. They all had streaks running through them that made each one unique.

Unfortunately, they somehow disappeared during one of my many moves.

that sux. The only thing i ever really collected were glasses from Las Vegas Casinos. I had one from every casino at the time, and they were all different shapes, martini, shot, burboun, hurricane.. etc... all different colors.

Must have had about 50 or so... when the house got flooded, i left them there... they are ruined now im sure as the whole house has been overrun with mold!

Thanks! I do love the sun-colored amythyst ones, but I love anything purple, anyway! The thing I can't stand is when some people take the insulators and irradiate them, themselves, to force an unnatural color out of them, then try to pass them off as "real" and sell them for big bucks.

I go down to Brimfield MA every year for the antiques flea market ( http://www.brimfield.com/ )and last year, some guy had a table full of insulators, and I could tell the colors were fakes, because they all had a funny "haze" about them, and he knew it that I knew, too, so he fessed up and told me that they were irradiated. Jerk. People like that ruin the fun of the hobby.
