| I swear, it is a shitty thing to have the carrot dangled in front of your nose.
I was offered a job in a suburb of Chicago last Friday. I didn't apply, but a friend of mine in the dental industry I have worked with in the past is in charge of hiring at an office that is restructuring. She offered me the practice management/marketing position the clinic is seeking to fill.
This position is my dream job, aside from supermodel or rock star. I am kind of wishing it was never offered because I am not in a position to take the job. This time last year, it could have been life-changing. Now, I am more cemented here.

| Yes. I don't know how "ideal" it was, but I liked the job description and the environment. Problem was that it was too far from my house and they weren't offering compelling enough pay to have to endure that long a drive, so I had to pass on it. | |

| I wish. You say you cannot go, BUT please consider it carefully... you could always go, and if u did not like it, then come back. I know that with your son and relationship it may be difficult, however, it is better to regret the things you did do, than look back and think "i should have done/tried".
I have a "should have" in my life that does not pertain to a job. And i wish i would have the courage to have done it then. Good luck

| Yeah, that is in the back of my mind. If the position opens up again, she may come to me again. On the cusp of my son's h.s. graduation, I will certainly be putting the feelers out. She and I are both from the same dental mgmt. philosophy, so her contacts are priceless to me.
This dentist wanted to hire me for a crazy awesome salary three years ago for just a chairside position. I was ready to move then, but can't do chairside anymore due to my neck. That is why this position is my ideal.

| That hasn't happened to me yet...but if it did, I would relocate if I really wanted to. I have no anchors holding me down. | |

| I'd love to wipe the slate clean and have a total life re-do. Unfortunately, I'm stuck where I am for a bit longer, due to my daughter having 2 years left in high school, my elderly Grandmother to take care of, and a husband who can't decide whether to shit or get off the pot, on anything, never mind a relocate. . . .
Someday, I'll be able to do a few things for myself.

| Hasn't happened to me, but depending on how sweet the offer is, I would likely take it. | |

| It would have to be sweet. Like if I could tell my wife she wouldn't have to work if she didn't want to. If it was too far away from her mom that might not be enough of a carrot though. Sorry it didn't work out for you this time Red. Don't give up on the modeling yet. | |

Thanks, Al. I know the supermodel thing is something I can always fall back on!
