I tried when i was 12, and my older sister's best friend found me and my friend smoking. Julie beat the shit out of both of us while walking me down the street to my sister. Who then beat me. Julie then continued walking my friend to HER mother.. and she got beat by both women too. That was back during the time when a village raised a child! lol

I did actually try one last year when life was spiraling out of control... just wanted to see if they really had the calming effect--- they don't. and there is NO way that I am paying almost $10 a pack.

I smoked for three years back in the 70's. I quit cold-turkey the day I walked off a job.

First cigarette was 7th grade (75 cents). Smoked through high school and finally quit in 1981($1.25) before the Trans-America bicycle trip. Started smoking again in 1985 before quitting again in 1993.
Started smoking again in 2001 ($3.50 and rising) before quitting for good in 2005...now if I can beat this JAVA addiction.

In HS I was one of the punks who stood around outside the school fence in the morning smoking. But that was just a couple cigs a day. In 63, when graduated and got in the military I started smoking and continued until about 73 when I quit for good. (I had quit several times in that decade but only for a few months at a time).

Now I am super sensitive to tobacco smoke and can't tolerate being around it at all.
