Toddler Badly Beaten For Mispronouncing Sister's Name
David 'Bread' Sinnett charged with aggravated child abuse

A 2-year-old boy beaten for mispronouncing his sister's name may lose an eye, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
The child was treated early Wednesday at Winter Haven Hospital for extensive bruising of his face as well as numerous welts from being hit with a clothes hanger his back and buttocks, records state.
The injuries included a broken bone between the child's nose and right eye from an unknown type of blow.
"Dr. Blind advised the injury was caused by 'blunt force trauma' to the eye," an investigator wrote. "Dr. Blind advised the injury could result in the victim having permanent eye damage and worst case scenario the victim could lose his sight."
Questioning of the child's relatives indicated that David "Bread" Sinnett, a felon with 15 years of convictions, "always messes" with the boy.
The relationship between them was not disclosed but Sinnett apparently was visiting or living in the child's home where the beating happened, records indicate.
The child's mother told investigators that Sinnett became angry when a speech impediment prevented the child from pronouncing his sister's name.
The mother described Sinnett as very angry and watched him hit her son repeatedly with a clothes hanger.
She said she left the room before her son suffered the injury to his face that may blind him, records state.
Investigators from the state Department of Children and Families took custody of the other children in the home. The boy has been released from the hospital and the chances of his vision being restore have improved, wrote DCF spokeswoman Carrie Hoeppner
Sinnett told the sheriff's office that he gets upset with the boy for not trying to pronounce words correctly.
He admitted hitting him twice on the back with the clothes hanger but denied causing other injuries.
He only struck the child because the youngster was too close to an electrical outlet, he told investigators.
The injury to the child's face likely came from falling off a skateboard days earlier, Sinnett said.
He remained in the Polk County Jail on Thursday, charged with aggravated child abuse.
