have you ever checked out any websites that have adoption profiles for children?

when I have looked at these sites, not only do I just want to cry from all of the unloved children in the world who need homes, but it kind of annoys me that people are looking through these pictures/profiles the same way they would on petfinder.org looking for a dog or cat!

If i ever win the lottery, I swear I will be providing home for children who need it

I would probably be very sad reading a site like that.

No. I'm not in the market for a child and I don't need to go out of my way to find sadness and misery.

For the most part. I respect people who do it, but if I ever want to have a child....I'm going to have one on my own.

What saddens me the most is the high number of children in other countries needing homes and how difficult it is for an American family to go through it. It is a huge financial burden for a middle class family. That, plus all the trips that need to be taken to the country prior to bringing the child home.

Oh don't get me wrong. I think adoption is great. I'm not even saying I wouldn't have considered it if we had been financially able to have another child when we were still young enough not to be confused as it's grandparents.

people go to other countries to adopt because the US has such red tape... the wait list is almost a decade long. Mostly cause people want babies, and not kids in the system. But i feel sooo bad for those poor kids who get shuffled from foster home to foster home because the system won't leave them in a home for too long.

Not all U.S. adoptions take ten years. I know several people who have gotten babies via U.S. adoptions. We know two families I know are dealing with adoptions from Ethiopia and they take years. It took one family almost four years and they finally just brought their daughter home. The other family is a year in, so I am not sure when they will finalize.
