Don't care what anyone thinks, I used to be a MAJOR fan of them when I was little! Even after they fell out of favor and became "jokes", I never stopped appreciating their music.
My favorite song of theirs was and still is "Cover Girl". I used to fantasize about being in the audience of the vid. LOL
Was anyone here ever a fan of theirs?

HaHA! Yes... I remember one of my older sisters had their concert VHS tape. I wasn't a major fan or anything, but I did like some of their songs.

Ugh. My sister used to be a fanatic of theirs and would play their music constantly. School was no better, with most of the girls in my sixth grade class jawing on about them ad nauseum.

I'll cop to liking a few of their songs but I wasn't a fanatic by any means. Not with Bobby Brown and BBD out at the same time.

I just couldn't take them seriously. Same with Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. Had a some cuts I could listen to, but knowing who they were patterned after....I much prefer the originators.

LOL! They weren't copycats. They were just put together by the same producer, Maurice Starr.

That's exactly why they were copycats, Maurice Starr used the exact same formula for New Kids, expect used white boys to reach a bigger market.

They were a very, very guilty pleasure. I remember listening to them when I was at home, but then would go to school and join the other boys in talking bad about them just to irritate the girls. Some of their music has aged pretty well and doesn't sound horrible today.

LOVED them. They were the first major concert I ever went to. My friend's mom took us to a concert when we were freshman.

I think earlier on Maurice Starr may have repeated a few things he did with New Edition with the New Kids, but for the most part I don't think they were similar.

I'm not going to lie, I went through a period where I was…I guess you could say "interested" enough to keep up with what they were doing…even if I wasn't one of their screaming fans. "Please Don't Go Girl" used to be my jam.

In retrospect, I think a lot of people went through a closet-fan stage with them. I recall liking them when they were on the come up with "The Right Stuff," but by the time they had officially become popular, I was pretty much over it.
