Do you think kids should be allowed to play with toys that are violent? Toy guns, knives, bombs; also violent video games.

Re: Violent toys and kids.
When I was a kid there weren't too many violent toys so we made our own with imagination. A stick can be a gun to a kid. We had thin paper bags filled with dust that we threw at each other and it 'exploded' when it hit a brick wall or fence.
Boys will come up with their own violent toys.

Re: Violent toys and kids.
My uncle had a BB gun and every type of toy gun that was made in the 1950s, he grew up to be...eh, I'd say relatively normal, aside from my mother he never hurt anybody and he never shot anyone. And quite frankly I don't see the problem with it, we ALL had guns and hand grenades and stuff, we all turned out fine. Now video games I would say are a different matter because they're not all made with the idea of it's fun, some of them pride themselves on being military based and in fact being made very similar to virtual training the new recruits of the army go through. They're being trained to actually kill people and the video game people are incorporating this kind of programming into a game that regardless of what age is on it you know the idiot parents will let their 5 year olds play all day, what the hell are they thinking?

I had toy guns, knives, etc. but I can think of better toys to give a kid.

Kids NOW....that might not be such a good idea. The current breed of children today are on some other shit. There are better toys to give them.

Re: Violent toys and kids.
I think video games could be a slightly different animal since some of the more extreme ones seem to thrive on making kids homicidal. I don't think a little plastic gun is really in the same league at all. I suppose it all depends on what parenting goes along with it.
