| Say a parent discovers their child's collection of porn; would you consider them a bad parent if they didn't confiscate it? | |

| Define Child!
Actually, Define Porn Stash!
Would you believe that in the '50s when I was a child and porn was unheard of, I made my own. I traced a pic of Atlas, only I drew it without the loin cloth and put in a probably too undeveloped cock & balls (drawn from my only experience).
So, I didn't prevent my foster child from perusing my Playboy magazines, nor did I hide them or Playgirl when my stepdaughter was a teen. Actually, I don't consider those mags to be porn anyhow, just titilating erotica.

| Yes. Porn is for 18+ adults. Even though most teens at some point have porn stashed somewhere, if their parent finds it they should take it from them (or delete it.) | |

Yes. Porn ain't made for kids. The disclaimer makes that abundantly clear.

| I think parents should take it and toss it. | |

| Well... the often the same parents who take the porn away, are the same parents who do not talk to their kids about sex to begin with and that is sad.
sexuality is natural. I dont know if I would take away tastefully posed playboys, but hustler with whips and chains would probably be banned. If the kid has already seen it, then they know what it is about, and they need a discussion. I must say, I learned how to give oral from porn.. and have never had any complaints! LOL

| I suppose I would take it away if they were very young. | |

I'm going to go with my typical response to these type of questions: Please define "child".

| Like Shale I would say define child and define porn. If my early teenaged boy was looking at Playboy I would know it as normal and natural.
Not normal and natural was my father leaving real porn out for me to see when I was quite young. Oddly enough while I was curious as any 10 year old would be I looked once and never looked again. In fact had forgotten about it when as a young woman about to be married I told my best friend I had never seen an adult man naked.

In fact had forgotten about it when as a young woman about to be married I told my best friend I had never seen an adult man naked. This is why I've been struggling with an answer. A teenage girl or boy is very different from a 6 year old. And the definition of porn isn't so cut & dry. Some people consider a nude body to be porn. I don't. I guess a parent has to base it on their own beliefs while remembering nudity by itself isn't shameful & it's very natural at some point for a kid to be curious about sexual things. A harsh reaction could possibly do far more harm than peeking at a magazine or video ever could. This doesn't really have a yay/nay type answer. It depends.

| I remember when my son was about 12, I took him to the movies and it was a very fun comedy western. At one point one of the characters took off her shirt and the men chasing her rode right into a covered wagon. She was a very well endowed actress and my automatic reaction was to put my hand over my sons eyes. Later I thought about it, which would I rather he see boobs in a fun way or violence in not so fun way? I never worried about sex in movies again as long as there was no accompanying violence which can be very damaging to young minds. | |

| I don't think it's something that's black and white and unless you're actually a parent, you shouldn't judge until it actually happens to you.
Anyway, I found some books of my son's when he was about 16. I let him know that I found them, but I let him keep them, I just let him know he needed to keep them in a place where no one can find them.
I just could not be a hypocrite about it. I had a porn stash when I was a teen and it was what it was.
