Summer vacation and kids

How long do you think summer vacation should be? Should it be the same number of weeks every year, and when should they run from?

I say start it the weekend of Memorial Day, and run it through to Labor Day.

Middle of June until after Labor day.

I really don't care anytmore.

Kids typically get 8 weeks off in the summer. If you get out in May, you go back late August....out in June, go back in September. I see no reason to change it.

Something I still find very interesting though. When my mother was in school they got out at Memorial Day and didn't go back until September. Now people could say there's more work to be done at school today than 50 years ago, HOWEVER, considering when she went to school nobody was allowed to fall behind or fail, the faster kids finished their work first and helped the slower ones catch up so everybody got the summer off and proceeded to the next grade in the fall, it does make me wonder WHY today the vacation time has to be shorter than it was back then when nobody was coddled or excused or had the teachers doing everything for them like today.

They get at least ten here. They were out before June 12 and will return the beginning of Sept.
