When my son was younger, I tried to make some meals fun. I cut hot dogs to look like a big octopus, made ants on a log (celery, pb and raisins), green eggs and ham and other silly things like that. When he would be giving me flack about a certain fruit or veggie, the next time I served the item, I would let him use a toothpick as a utensil.
Some argue making food "fun" like that sets a precedent for kids to view meals as a reward. I disagree with the theory because it was only a matter of eating what he would already be eating, but making it more fun.
