spouse vs friend Empty spouse vs friend

If a mutual friend told you that they were sleeping with your spouse, would you believe them? Keep in mind that this friend knows your spouse well... so they may be able to provide you with enough information to make it sound believable.

If you had doubts about both of their stories... would you then side with the spouse figuring that you owed them the respect of believing them over the other person?

Sounds like this person is either trying to break you up because it's true or because they think if you're out of the way they can have a shot. Either way this person isn't much of a "friend". So you definitely want to watch your back. I wouldn't do anything until I had more information than the "he said/she said". This may be something where you have to just trust your gut. But chances are some kind of more concrete evidence will turn up.

It's really going to depend on how close a friend it is.

Due to my experiences IRL with casual sex, I just can't relate to this question. My actual wife said she had no interest in other guys than me and I believed her.

However, from our history (waaay past virginity for both) I would have understood if she was curious to get physically intimate with another guy - no sweat off my balls there. Likewise she understood that I would have an occasional 'night out with the guys' myself.

Interestingly, when I was doing fotografy my best friend's wife wanted to do some nude studies, so I went to their house and did the shoot. Half way thru the shoot, I realized how it COULD look to someone because my friend was out of town at the time and here I was in his house with his naked wife. Shocked

Thinking on that line further, I realized that even if his wife was amenable to a little sexual play, (and she was a cutie) I would not do it without my friend's knowledge and consent. I did not consider getting my wife's consent but could not violate my friend's trust. I just found that curious. Shows the extent of male-bonding I suppose.

Is it possible that this 'friend' is 'fessing up just to set things straight and that it is not that big a deal between the two guys?

I would side with the spouse until I could verify if it was true or not.

I guess I would inform (not confront) my wife of this friend's revelation and ask if she cared to comment.

Depends, but I would trust my spouse until it can be proven otherwise.

Yea it depends, how long I been with my spouse, and how good of a "friend" this chic has been.

    A true friend would
    1. not sleep with your spouse
    2. Not tell you if they did.
