    At work, I'm overseeing a new hire. Yesterday he told me that the other manager broke down to him our individuals styles when it comes to reaction and discipline. The other manager said to him 'When I decide to kick your ass for screwing up, I do it immediately; when Chris decides to kick your ass, he's going to kick your ass, but he'll wait for you to screw up a little more just so you can give him that much more rope to hang you with.' Funny to hear him describe me that way, because it's probably true. When I'm aware that someone has done something wrong, I don't always immediately go in for the kill. I'll let it ride for a minute just to see what you do next.

    So my question is, when you're aware that someone is on some bullshit, do you immediately confront them about them, or do you wait for the right moment?

    It depends if it warrants a quick confrontation then I will if not, I will wait.

    Depends on who it is and what they did. If it was something so big that it needs to be addressed RIGHT NOW then I don't wait.

    If it is an inexperienced person you should tell them of every little thing wrong so it is a learning experience.

    You don't have to bust them, just say "No, we don't put the babies in the dishwasher, best to wash them in the sink." Don't wait til the baby makes it to the heat cycle because you really want to chew them out.

    When you're training a puppy not to shit or piss in the house, it's best to discipline them as soon as they do it. Not saying that's always possible but that's the best time. So Chris, next time one of your subordinates looks like he's about to pee on the carpet, get ready with that rolled up newspaper Wink
