How would you feel about a measure banning porn from the Internet as a way of safeguarding kids from it? Do you think we should go back to the days of video stores and magazines?

Re: Banning Porn From the Internet
it's the parents job to monitor children... not the rest of the world's.
I hate this "It takes a village to raise a child" bullshit that hillary clinton boasted years ago. No, it takes the parents. Let the parents work to support them, educate them, and give them medical. Let the parents guide them morally, and decide what they should or should not see. Hell, you think kids didn't see porn before the internet? sure we did. We stole the mags from parents/siblings, and I picked the lock on the cable box which filtered out the playboy channel. Kids will find a way

Re: Banning Porn From the Internet
I haven't been to a porno-store, or rented a porn movie from a video store, in over 10 years and don't miss it. Some parents just need to safeguard their own computers for the kids.

Re: Banning Porn From the Internet
Why stop at the internet? Why not just ban pornography altogether? Have ALL smut magazines made illegal to distribute and shut down the entire porn industry as a whole! I'm sure that would go over well with the majority of mainstream, American "Christians". Except that it wouldn't because most of them are hypocrites who depend on porn in some way or another. So they figure they'll just try to make it more difficult to access as some measure of "control". The problem is, the internet is the ONE realm remaining where there is still freedom from censorship. Take that away and we might as well just go back to the days before there was such a thing as the internet.
European countries will never go for this and neither would Canada. So the US would essentially become like the Middle East, China and North Korea, in so far as being the only country in the western world that censors content on the internet. The land of free speech would become the land of government sanctioned speech. The logic of "protecting kids" from pornography is just stupid. If you don't want YOUR kid seeing pornography, then don't give them unrestricted access to the internet. If you don't want your kid eating sugary cereals, then don't by sugary cereals. Don't impose your parenting skills on the rest of the world.

Re: Banning Porn From the Internet
I don't think that's necessary and no. But personally, a ban wouldn't affect me much either way. I don't buy porn and I don't watch it that much anymore anyway. I've outgrown it.
