LOL. Interesting considering this chick hasn't had a significant job or been relevant in about 20 yrs. Everybody knows Stacy is a bit nutty. But whatever. She's entitled. Me thinks she needs some attention. Go back to doing King magazine covers Stacy.
Why the backlash? I thought the left was supposed to be better than that.
No you didn't. But for your information, most people on the left actually ARE. Unless of course you wish to generalize everyone on the left based on what the few "vocals" out there (who actually know who Stacey Dash is and care) are saying, which wouldn't surprise me.

For all of you questioning who Stacey Dash is, she is a 45 year old actress (who still looks 25) and whose biggest claim to fame was starring in a movie called "CLUELESS"! That should by all rights tell you everything about her that you need to know. But in case you need more, she is known mostly for her looks rather than her acting skills and has a history of playing "younger roles" (ie: high school teenagers into her 30's). Oh, and she happens to be BLACK (because apparently that fact is somehow important and relevant) with very eurocentric features that typical Americans classify as "beautiful". According to her bio, virtually her entire family is the owner, manager or CEO of some company, so the fact that she should endorse a businessman as the President should be expected, although people are pretending to be shocked by the breaking news of this "huge movie star", who is black endorsing Mitt Romney.
Stacey Dash is not stupid for deciding to vote for Mitt Romney. For a person of her status and background, Mitt would be the most logical choice. Stacey Dash is stupid for broadcasting that to the world and then pretending not to understand the backlash! Vote for whoever the fuck you want to vote for. But when you publicly endorse someone (whoever that is) you're gonna lose fans. Man, woman, black, white, republican or democrat, ANYONE who uses their celebrity to endorse a political figure DESERVES all of the backlash that they get (because they chose to put themselves out there like that, hoping it would work to their advantage). In this case, if you're a black, Hollywood actress, chances are a large percentage of your fanbase (if you still have one) are young, black liberals who couldn't possibly understand why you'd broadcast your opposite political agenda. She really is clueless!
She's entitled to her opinion and I really don't care who if she's for Romney. But IA that it was dumb of her to act like she's surprised at the backlash. Most of the people who know her or would call themselves "fans" of her are black and Romney has 0% black favorability...so...maybe she should have just kept this to herself if she didn't want fallout from her political endorsements.
I do think it's ironic that the republican endorsing celebrity always gets the scorn and loses "cool" points while no one bats an eye at the democratic endorsing celebrity. If she had come out as a staunch Obama supporter, this wouldn't be news.

If celebrities lose 'cool points' when they endorse Republican candidates, then that makes a statement about how people generally view the Republican party.
Stacey is more than entitled to support whom she wishes (and I'm not going to bash her for it), but it should come as no surprise to her that any fans she has wouldn't be charmed by her support of Romney, considering who her target demographic tends to be.

A) Why is this "ironic"? B) Do you have any evidence that this is actually the case? Because I'm pretty sure there are no facts that back up this assertion.

Doesn't bother me. The comments she received for it were OTT and out of line, but this close to election day I guess that's to be expected when someone goes out of their way to champion one candidate over the other.

Agreed that this is a misuse of "irony" and although I don't think there's empirical evidence regarding the lose of "cool points" for Republican celebrities but I think if you did an informal poll you would find that the majority of public perception/opinion is that celebrities/Hollywood/the entertainment industry are "liberal" aka Democrats and so there is at least mild surprise when one of them comes out as a "conservative" aka Republican.

Which is why I was sort of surprised and disappointed to find that Clint Eastwood really is my dad.

Well I can tell you don't belong to many message boards, I belong to 3 and believe me I see hate spewed big time on celebrities who voice liberal opinions . Think Sean Penn I bet you have heard all sorts of (perhaps even feel) hate spewed on him from the right. Funny that a man who does so much good for others is so hated don't you think? I could name others the right despises.
