| I'm pissed. Last week one of my coworkers named Ivan came out of the break room to find an older employee unconscious and bleeding from the head---laying in the middle of the main walkway. Ivan got on his cell phone, called 911, and told another employee to stay with the man. He walked to the office to tell management and no one was in the office. 911 told him to go back to the patient to assess his condition. While walking back, the big manager in control of the 1500 employee building started yelling at him to get off the cell phone (cell are against policy in the building). 911 is telling ivan to get someone to open the front gate---as we need magnetic ID badge to get into the building. A supervisor needed to open a special door to be able to get a stretcher in. In the meantime, another employee who is an LPN was called to assist. She someone for a cloth to put pressure on the bleeding and asked the fallen man if he could hear her. The manager then approached screaming at everyone to return to work, and still yelling at Ivan for being on the phone with 911. Ivan argued with the manager to open the door for the paramedics, and eventually had to get another supervisor to do so. The manager then threatened everyone to return to work--- they literally had to step over this man's body. The LPN said she felt like she was stepping over roadkill.
The manager never took witness statements or a list of names, and never returned to the witnesses to inform them of the man's condition. The following night, Ivan approached the manager and said, "We need to talk about whatever problem you and I may have. If you have something against me we need to resolve it because last night someone's life was on the line." The manager looked at him, then said, "You're acting stupid" and walked away.
all of this occured just two days after we received service talks about treating eachother with respect, dignity, and trying to resolve workplace conflicts. WTF???

| We started a petition and have about 100 names on it. Giving it to both unions and the district manager. But this is the same manager who burned and destroyed mail in philly---this just move them, never fire them | |

| I think you need to officially move this up in the post office bureaucracy. (and someone should secretly get the local media on it) Gov't is not above common decency. With this many ppl involved the media can be snitched to without suspicion being on any one person. Go find a pay fone and call it in.
This is the kind of shit that deserves seeing that manager in sweaty closeups on 60 Minutes.

| Interrupting a 911 call is a misdemeanor in 14 states and a felony in ND and Texas. In NJ, they don't care apparently! The guy has been working there since JFK got shot, and it was like, "walk over him and let him die" just sick! | |

| oh yeah.. burning the mail is a crime, he was investigated and demoted... apparently Office of Inspector General decided that it was "unintentional". I have no freakin clue how you can unintentionally burn mail in a dumpster... but he "did" LOL | |

| I think you also once mentioned that they lock some of the exits? If true (and hasn't been corrected yet) you should report that to the building department of whatever town you work in. I'm not sure what kind of jurisdictional pissing contests are involved with federal facilities but the local Fire Marshall may still be able to make more noise than an employee. | |

| Hopefully what goes around will come around in this guy's case, but sometimes the best justice of all, is to bake him a birthday cake made from chocolate Ex-Lax. . . | |
