    Another one that no one has heard of or cares about but I really love this movie. It's sort of a murder mystery set in a Texas border town told in flashbacks. Chris Cooper is the son of the former legendary town Sheriff Buddy Deeds (Matthew McConaughey) who took over years before after the previous murderously corrupt Sheriff Charlie Wade (Kris Kristofferson) disappears (presumably as an embezzler). Sam Deeds (Cooper) is the present sheriff having been elected by the local political machine because of his name. After Charlie Wade's badge is discovered on an adjacent U.S. Army shooting range in the desert, the investigation by Sam leads to some shocking family secrets. It's not a perfect movie but I love the story and John Sayles' direction and the twist at the end.
