Ya know, I guess it comes from being older than most on this board, but I'm from another era and don't really date. But I did hook up with a woman in 1980 and ended up staying with her for 18 years.
My mom in St. Louis surprised me with her reaction when I sent her a pic of my new girlfriend. She sent it back with a letter that started "What makes you think I want a picture of your black woman."
OOH! Didn't communicate with her for a couple of years. No, it was not justified.

My family hated (and still does) my twins mother. Their objection only made me cling to her more. Had they just backed off, it probably would have ended quicker.

May I ask why? My mom says my dad's family didn't like her either, but I really didn't see it. She said it was mostly from my grandmother.....and my dad's mom is pretty much a stuck up, snotty ass woman so that wasn't surprising. She only cared about her two youngest kids anyway.

My dad isn't going to like anyone I date because they'll have a penis. lol
My mom has been pretty indifferent. Overall it hasn't been an issue though because I'm grown and they know that they no control over who I see.

They never met many I dated. Dad loved both the guys who were wrong for me...one pretentious as could be, the other beat the shit outta me. So, that is that. Looking back, it is so odd that he adored them both. And both of those guys pressed to do the "meet the family" thing.
