What vacation? I'm almost 21 years old and I have never had a vacation in my whole life. Although, that's not as bad as my mother's case, she hasn't had one in about 40 years.

For all of the '70s I didn't really take a vacation. Jim and I would quit our jobs, give up our apartment and take off to Central America or Europe or India.
My first really memorable vacation was 1981 when Brenda and I and her 13-year-old daughter went to the Yucatan and visited the ruins. (Jim and I had already done this in the '70s)
I think the most recent fun time I had was traveling with my 13-14 year old grandson in 2004 - 2005.

Traveling by train and bus we went to New Orleans,
St. Louis,
Chicago
And Washington DC.
Traveling with a kid makes you do tourist things that you might just overlook by yourself. It was on this trip that I went to the top of the St. Louis Arch for the first time - in my home town where I watched the thing being built.
