Paying for work training Empty Paying for work training

One of my friends was offered a job but he would have to pay for his own training. The cost is $75 bucks. I think that is CRAZY and that it is probably a scam because the whole point of jobs are to pay the EMPLOYEE, not for the them to pay the employer. I went thru something similar a few years ago when I got duped into going to a Primerica cattle call and they wanted like $300 to train! Nope!!

Would you ever pay for on the job training?

Only if I had in writing that I have a job when the training is over. It is a bit ridiculous though, most jobs train.

I would be very suspect of that. It has never happened to me in any job. OJT was always provided by the company.

I recently had to get a police check update where I work and the company did not pay for them. They give us an official document with a seal and such. I made HR a copy of mine and kept the original. It was MY $5 that bought it and I told them if they wanted the original I would sell it to them for $5. I guess the copy was good enuf.

I consider any job offer that wants you to pony up for training basically a racket. I was offered a "career opportunity" once that wanted me to go through 6 weeks of classroom training that they held at the site at my own expense in order to get "certified." The cost for the class was something like $1,200. Kiss my ass. No...

At an accredited school? Could be. Pay the job to train me? Fuck that.
