The Check Book Empty The Check Book

Post by Tony Marino Tue Jan 15, 2013 1:42 pm

In this day and age where you can do online banking, use a pin and with some cards simply hold you card next to a reader check books seem to be getting less and less significant and if anything more of a pain. In big businesses I can understand why they are still used but I wonder if in day to day life people will ever stop using them?

Do you still own one? Do you use it frequently? Do you mainly use it for payments for bills or shopping?

We still have one and although the frequency of it's use has diminished greatly over the years, it still gets used.

The Check Book Empty Re: The Check Book

I have a checkbook for certain regular checks that I write. My landlord does not do online banking and I still write checks to individuals now and then.

Also, I use the checkbook to record all my card debits so I know what my balance is and can compare that to my bank statement. (I even keep the paper debit receipts until the bank statement comes.)

Some young ppl will laf at how meticulous I have been about my 'bank book' but NOT ONCE in the 45 years I have had checking accounts have I overdrawn.

I have a checkbook and I use it to check my balance against what the online records say, they're usually never the same.

I carry it around just in case I end up somewhere that doesn't take credit or debit cards....but checks are largely obsolete now. My landlord takes checks, but I prefer to use a money order. If can't get one in time, then I'll write a check for that.
