Your worst school photo

What was the worst class picture you ever took? What grade was it, and why do you dislike the picture?

8th grade. Before my braces so I was bucktoothed.

I never paid much attention to them, they went into Mama'a family album.

My mother had me looking like I was 90 yrs old in my second grade class picture. She couldn't find one of my pearl (already starting out wrong) earrings on the day of the picture so she concocted this idea that she was going to fluff out the curls in my hair to one side on my head to cover the ear with the missing earring. I wasn't feeling it at all.

The absolute worse was my fourth grade picture. Just dowdy. Dowdy looking hair…dowdy dress…goofy smile and the angle was too close. I usually wore my hair tied back with barrettes, but on that particular day Nhaiyel went to school with her poorly pressed hair down and puffed out. At best, I looked like Donna Summer, circa 1978…at worse, Homie the Clown.

My fifth grade class photo was a major improvement.

I never took a bad school picture...

I love all 4 of mine. Honestly, I think they are among my best pics ever. I didn't care for my first class photo much but they didn't really do much with that anyway.

I was cute in my Kindergartener through 2nd grade class pics.

4th through 8th grade were all horrible.

Got cute again in my HS pics.

All of them between 5th and 8th grades.

ESPECIALLY fifth. Right before picture day I read a book with a picture of a little girl who's hair was braided in a high ponytail and beaded at the ends; even her bangs were braided and beaded.

Since I had bangs, I asked my mom to do that same style. Why, God, Why. Her face was all storybook dainty; mine was fat kid full. And I was determined not to smile but the photographer got me right when I was laughing and making a double chin.

Thank goodness for redos, but even THAT was fucked up.
