When it comes to computers, do you have a preferred brand? I have an Acer desktop....but I'm thinking of buying a Toshiba brand laptop that I saw at Best Buy. Flipside....is there a certain brand that you think is crap and stay away from?

Re: Computer Brands
I would've told you to stay away from HP a few years ago....but I've heard they've stepped their game up a bit. I currently have a Toshiba laptop and it's been damn good for the five years that I've had it so if you get one, you can't go wrong with that. I'm not loyal to one particular brand but I can say that Toshiba makes good products.

We've never had a problem with HP. That's what's in the house now.

Re: Computer Brands
It's not so much the computer as the OS. I have a Dell tower with Microsoft XP.
I use Microsoft Office 2003 which I'm really used to. I dread having to upgrade to something more difficult with no real benefit in production. So, I have another Dell tower that they threw out at work as a backup. (They went with these hideous Macs - Pages & Numbers is so inferior to Word & Excel.) Hopefully some tech can install my few programs and RAM to start me over again when my current Dell expires.

I've had better luck with Dell than HP, though HP is excellent for printers

Re: Computer Brands
My first and only computer is a Toshiba. I can agree with NY, I've had my computer for 5 years as well, and it runs just as good as when I first bought it.

Re: Computer Brands
Always been partial to HP. I'm not bent on only HP but when it's time for a new computer, that's the brand I look to first.

Re: Computer Brands
I have a Mac and an E-Machine PC. I'm considering buying a laptop too, and have been eying a model from HP that I saw online and liked.
