I never cheated on my partners.
I did have sex with other ppl while with my partners but they knew about it and there was no loss to them.
The reason is variety of physical intimacy with different ppl.

When I was younger I was in an abusive relationship for years and was afraid of what he would do if I tried to leave him. So when he went out of town for an extended amount of time and I started realizing how much better life was without him, cheating on him made sense to me. I felt like I deserved to be happy and have fun.
Looking back on it, I don't know how I would have done things differently. I'll never forget how great I felt doing my dirt lol, and while I can't say I was right, I felt (and still feel) justified. We broke up shortly after he got back home because I finally realized his empty threats weren't worth my happiness.
That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Depends on the situation that would drive one to consider infidelity--I think sometimes it can be rationalized out as "ok", and much thought and consideration should go into the process of getting to that point. Just farting around because you don't want to grow up, really try at a relationship, or are out for conquests, isn't a valid reason to me.
