Do you think employees should get paid overtime for making business calls and emails when they’re not scheduled to work?

You should always be paid for the work you do for an employer or business.

    yeah that…

And, if you are hourly non-exempt there is a federal agency called Wage & Hours that would like to hear if your boss thinks otherwise. BTW, there should be a poster with the contact info somewhere in your workplace.

They shouldn't be making business calls and emails when they're not scheduled to work anyway. If they are and it wasn't REQUIRED, then that's on them. You should be getting paid for working overtime on the clock. Not off of it.

Pretty much. I'm on salary so I don't get overtime but I don't punch a time clock either so it balances out. Leave a little early, come in a little late.
