If your child were especially hyperactive, downtrodden or temperamental (prone to mood swings) would you put them on pills designed to balance their mood or seek other methods to try and even out their behavior?

That's a tough call. I don't know and I don't know that anyone can say for certain unless they're actually facing that situation.

It would be the very LAST resort.

I raised an ADHD child and, yes, I gave her Cylert. I wouldn't say it particularly altered her personality by any means but it certainly helped her tremendously.

I would call Super Nanny!

Is the behavior controllable by other means? If out of control, they have meds that don't change personality, just control the psychosis or depression or whatever.

I would try the latter first, then if all else fails, I'll dope 'em up.
