I first got online when I went away to college in '95. My dorm mate had a computer with PRODIGY (lol) internet on it. After about a year of saving for computer, I bought one and connected with AOL. Now I'm RoadRunner.

'95, '96...somewhere around there. My father's friend dealt with computers and he took one and built one for my dad. After I was at his house using his all the time, he had one built for me. I was one of the few kids in school who had one and had the internet as well. AOL was my first experience with being online.

I had a cousin in Atlanta who is a nerdy electronics guy, back in the early/mid 1990s he had a computer with an AOL connection. My parents and I visited him in 1995, and we were all impressed by his little online connection and the chat room feature.

At the time I got an AOL startup disk in junk mail, and so I took it to school and figured I would be able to get online in the school library just like that. A teacher saw me trying to insert the disk into the computer, laughed and told me that it wasn't that simple....that I would need an account and a credit card.

My mother bought me Packard Bell PC for Xmas 1996, and by that time we had a drawer full of those junk AOL startup disks that had come in the mail. Popped it into the drive, registered and the rest is history.

Yep. And not the CD-Rom startups either. The 3.5 floppy's (that most computers don't even encompass anymore). That was a long time ago.

I was so late to the game. I had it at home in 2005. But had used it at school years prior.

I still have AOL, but rarely use it. I mostly sign with AT&T now.

Way back in high school, we had Web-TV first. That was a joke even back then. Eventually my parents bought a HOUSE computer for all of us to share back in the days of dial up.

Probably about 10 years ago, when I was in university and started researching stuff online. I had this real cool history class and the prof was piloting a new course with us - one that integrated the Internet with history. Our final project was a webpage that was to be part of a growing site that would be added to each year by classes. It's embarrassing to look back at our webpages now, 'cause the stuff the students are doing now are so neat, whereas our websites were much more basic.

1995, my computer was a packard bell, 850mb hard drive (which was phenomenal at that time) and it had Prodigy loaded on it. Eventually I went to AOL, got sick of that, then went to Netcom. I got tired of using the modem so after about 5 years, switched to Optimum. How different the internet was back then.

Wow...bringing back memories. I think I was about 13....I'm 26 now. My dad managed to get a computer that even for that time was outdated. And I had one of those printers where you had to feed the paper in and tear the strips off the sides lol. Started off with AOL 2.0 I think. The first thing I did was get on the message boards!

1995 AOL 2.5., with the cartoon icons up at the top. My dad had a computer, and at the time those AOL commercials used to run on TV; advertising sign up specials and 'free minutes.' I called the 800 number and had them ship me a startup disk. After some convincing on my part to get my dad to agree to use his credit card to sign up, I remember him threatening me to not be on for longer than an hour at a time and for no more than a two days out the week, because back then there was an hourly credit charge.

Back in '97 with AOL just like practically everybody who got online at that time. Quit AOL in '99 and haven't been back since. Now I'm with Earthlink/Road Runner.

Looks like we all got online in the middle 1990s, mostly with AOL.

I would've been 11 or 12, so either 2001 or 2002.

And the very first thing I did was look up gay porn.
