I fucking hate them. My room is in the basement where centipedes usually hide out and I just caught one on my bed. Thousand legged bastid!!!

Re: Centipedes
OK, were you talking about these ugly critters:
Yeah, they are scary - they are carnivorous, they bite and are poisonous. I remember seeing one crawling along my cable wire from the swamp area outside my apt in Gainesville FL once. I sleep on the floor - not a pleasant thot.
However, this is a Millipede a little creature that lived in my basement room in St. Louis when I was a kid.
They like damp concrete places and would just amble across the floor. They are vegetarians and I never had a problem with them - can even pick them up (except they put off some kind of chemical odor - perhaps a defense) I see them here in Florida too.

I always thot the millipedes were kind of cute. Oh there are tropical varieties that get to be a foot long that I might not even want to touch, but the little brown ones in my basement were just an inch or so.
Perhaps you will find a relative of the millipede cuter
We used to play with pill bugs when I was a kid. Of course we didn't have Ipads, cell phones & such.

Re: Centipedes
We have these lovely creatures crawling around they are called Slugs. Thing is if you pour salt on them they literally melt!!! They are slimy and leave a trail of slime on whatever they crawl on.

Yeah, we got em here too - about 3 inches long and half inch wide.Tony Marino wrote:We have these lovely creatures crawling around they are called Slugs. Thing is if you pour salt on them they literally melt!!! They are slimy and leave a trail of slime on whatever they crawl on.
They're big like that in New Orleans where they would come into the house. Didn't want to wake up with one in my bed so I poured salt on the door threshold. Ppl thot it was a Voodoo ritual.
