How "TRUE" is your job resume?

I really don't lie. I have my own business and am interviewed by potential clients often. So, if I started to lie, I wouldn't be able to keep all the lies straight. I find that in interviews or on resumes, honesty is the best policy.

But, I do have a consulting job on my resume that I did unpaid. I don't note that it was not paid, as it makes me appear more experienced. So, I guess that is lying by omission.

Heck-e-yeah, I have. I don't anymore because I'm where I want to be, but before I got here I stretched the truth big time about past positions. Take for instance, when I was 19 I was only ASKED by the manager where I worked if I would be interested in becoming an assistant. I said yes, and she said she'd keep me in mind should the opportunity ever came up. It didn't because the place closed like two months later. However, on my resume....guess what I put as my position there...."assistant manager." From there, I was able to parlay that lie into a REAL assistant managers position a year later. Ever since then I've been able to get management jobs, so I now don't even bother to tell that original lie anymore. But yeah....you gotta be shrewd when it comes to your resume.

Lied....no....embellished, hell yeah. Like I've stated in another thread, I've worked for my father off and on since I was 13. I mostly only did simple stuff but you know I've milked that shit to death. Still do. And since my dad runs his own business, I always use him for a reference. And my past gigs have always called him. And I've always gotten the job. Daddy never let his baby girl down.

Actually, my resume isn't that true - I would say 60% of that shit is made up, and the employers are stupid enough to buy into it; I think it's because I put up such an honest front during the interviews. Suckers!

No because most HR managers hiring for a competitive position will ask specific questions relating to the candidates <alleged> work experience, for business references, and will check your TRW. A competent HR will be able to see through a candidate whose resume claims they ran the department, when truthfully all they did was clerk.

Yes I have. I put on resumes that at this certain past job, I was the "shift leader", when in reality I was just the employee in the dept who was hired maybe a few months before the others and so the supervisor would occasionally allow me to write out the duties of the day for him. It's never anything big, just a "dressing up" of the truth.

I never totally lied but I have stretched the truth big time before.
