| This has always bothered me. Tobacco companies can't advertise on TV, but alcohol producers can. If one is banned, the other should be as well. But really, both should be allowed over the air. Everyone knows the dangers of tobacco at this point. If they're gonna do it, then they're gonna do it. | |

| Well, for sure alcohol is less likely to hook a person than cigarettes do, but I agree with with you 100% - people might as well advertise cigarettes, like you said, if people are going to do it, then they're going to do it. And smoking in movies and TV (particularly the old black-and-whites) glamourize smoking, so promotion of cigs (for lack of a better word) will never be eliminated - not that it should be. | |

| Well alcohol doesn't have a track record of killing over 400,000 people every year through cancer, emphysema and heart disease, smoking does. Alcohol has some health benefits to it in that it lowers risks for heart disease, lowers cholesterol, and can help extend a person's lifespan, cigarettes do not. | |

| Yeah alcohol doesn't kill as many people a year but I think the media is too anal retentive about advertising cigarettes. If it's ok in magazines and on billboards, then why not tv? | |

| I don't know - doesn't make much sense but maybe because tobacco is proven to be highly additive with numerous health complications, whereas alcohol isn't as deadly unless you get behind a wheel or drink to much? | |

| It may not seem fair or right, but I am all for it. Anything to keep kids from starting, is good with me. I know the same could be said about alcohol, and I would be fine if those ads stopped too.

| True because even though I'm for drinking, those ads on TV don't do anything for me, I don't buy those brands anyway. | |
