Do you think that parents should meddle in the kids personal lives? If your parents told you that they knew someone who would be just 'perfect' for you, would you trust their judgment?

Well my mother is an expert on who is NOT right and who will just tell you what you want to hear, so I'd trust her judgment if she said 'get rid of him', but if she tried to put me together with someone? Of course it'd be worth at least trying one date, right?

Meddle? Once their kids are out on their own, no. If they honestly believe their child is involvement in something that they shouldn't be, I suppose they should not give their approval, but once the kids are on their own, the parents have to realize that the authority they knew when the kids lived under their roof is no longer there.

I think it is OK as long as the parents don't have a certain level of expectation of it working. For instance, if a parent set up a child, the parent should stay mum if the first date is a bust.

Even though we've never talked about it, I think my mother has a good idea of what I would and wouldn't like. Even though she sometimes would try to go against it. I remember one time there was a boy on my block that I knew and my mother knew his mother too. She actually tried to set the two of us up, talking bout I should go out with him because he's really smart and he's prob. going to have a good job one day and make something of himself and I should get the jump before anybody else does. I just looked at her.

I think it's okay as long as the parent doesn't spring it on the kid at the last minute. If a parent actually asks him/her "I know so-and-so, would you like to meet him/her?" then I think that's fine. I don't think of that as meddling. I would trust my Mom's judgment. In fact, given the bunch of losers I've dated, I'd probably trust her judgment more than my own.
