The Kings Speech Empty The Kings Speech

Post by JWF Sat Dec 04, 2010 1:26 pm

Old fashion film making at it's best, with a beautiful breath of freshness. Makes up for the many bad releases in 2010. Handsomely structured, with some of the best acting you will witness, and remarkable use of the English language. A masterpiece of intelligent film making and flawless direction.

The film depicts the particulars behind Prince Albert (later King George VI) and his stammering (stuttering) speech difficulties. But it's much more. It's about a future king and his most unlikely friendship with his speech therapist who helped him not only overcome his speech impediments, but build enormous self-confidence within, as WWII is drawing near. The final scene will bring you to tears.

Although some of us denounce the Oscar system this film needs recognition. "The King's Speech" should receive at least 9 Oscar nominations, including: Colin Firth (King George VI), Geoffrey Rush (eccentric therpist) and Helena Bonham Carter (Queen Elizabeth)

I attended the 12 PM show in NYC (Lincoln Center). I didn't notice one empty seat. And as a special attraction Tim Hopper (director) and Co-executive Producer showed up for a Q&A session. Mr. Hooper also did the HBO "John Adams" miniseries, which won 13 Emmy's.

Personally, it's a must see film. If possible don't wait for Netflex, etc.

    A+
