Most may recall the events (around 2002-03) leading to the identity leak and dismissal of Valerie Plame (Naomi Watts), who finds no evidence of WMD's, nor her former diplomat husband (Sean Penn), who goes public in a NY Times article of his own findings. Thus, how do you make an entertaining and satisfying film? It's not easy! Telling the truth from the truth is tricky. Especially since it's still a relatively current topic. The truth and lies are still going on. See George W. Bush latest published memoirs.
The film does a nice blend of careers and family pressures, which put an enormous strain on their marriage. Good performances from the two lead actors. What it lacks is an over-all narrative consistency and depth, with some incoherent parts. A good film that had all the pieces to be better.
Was justice served. Well, your call!

Footnote: There are several major players.....such as Robert Novak.....omitted from the script.
