Does anyone still write checks? There are a few instances where checks are the only method of payment that will be accepted, or cash, but does anyone still actually carry a book of checks with them for regular use?

LOL, no. I haven't written a check in about 5 years. I do have a checkbook in case it's imperative that I do write a check, but I don't carry it around in my wallet. Most merchants in NYC don't accept personal checks anyway.

I have no checkbook so it's a bit odd that I would be writing checks.

I just started writing checks about a year ago, but I only write them to pay my cable/internet/phone bill once every month. I've never actually went to a store and wrote a check- I just use my debit card or cash.

Just for Utility bills, taxes, etc. I don't write checks in stores cause like NY said most merchants don't accept personal checks here.

When I first started getting into the whole adult world of finances, checks were becoming superseded by debit cards. For the most part, I just use my Visa check plastic. It has an acceptance rate of about 95%.

I still write checks. I have some monthly bills that get deducted online, such as my ISP and cable but I don't trust AT&T to give them that option. (I use their landline phone and my DSL runs thru it but don't want their ISP or cable that they keep trying to sell me and if they had my bank authorization I just know they would hook me up)
I still write checks for rent and sometimes send relatives money. It is the easiest way to do that.
I never carry my checkbook with me. For that I have a debit card and buy everything at the stores with it.

Only when I'm mailing bills off, or getting my taxes done. Otherwise I just use my debit card.

Very, very rarely. My wife carries the check book with her and I have one folded away in my wallet “just in case”. In case of what, I don’t know. About the only thing she does write checks for is to mail to relatives to pay for crap we bought from our nieces for school fund raisers, Girl Scouts, etc.

I have two books of checks that I got when I started my checking account last year. I think I've used no more than five. Most places don't accept checks anymore. Be it credit or debit, it's all about that Visa logo.

Only when I'm mailing off a payment or dropping one in a drop box. Beyond that I almost never take my checkbook out of the little side compartment that I keep it in in my purse.

I still write checks occasionally, outside of bills where I have to mail in the check, etc. I still carry my checkbook with me in my purse. I don't have a debit card, I just write a check. Everybody is inventing things to move everybody faster, but why? It's not like we have anywhere important to go.
