    ATM Machines Empty ATM Machines

Post by Chris Tue Dec 28, 2010 8:37 am

Are you in the habit of going to the ATM machine and taking money out? If you do, does the machine you frequent charge you for the usage?

If I absolutely need to withdraw cash, I'll usually try to find the ATM associated with my bank. If I can't find one, I'll go to a supermarket (Albertsons, Kroger, Acme; etc) because usually those places don't charge a fee for their ATM services unless there is a bank inside the supermarket.

OT: "ATM machine" is one of my pet peeves as far as redundencies. Right up there with "PIN number", "VIN number", "LCD Display", "2am in the morning" and "HIV virus"

I try not to use an ATM that doesn't have my bank's logo on it. It would have to be some kind of minor emergency for me to pay a @#$% fee. Besides, while it's no guarantee against fraud, I do feel safer using an ATM in a bank lobby. BTW, captainbryce, I know what you mean. How do you feel about hot water heaters? Wink

My bank is in the neighborhood and that was the only ATM machine I used. Then one day it recorded my withdrawal of $80 but didn't give me the money. Had to go to the bank and fill out a bunch of forms to get the deduction removed. So, I stopped using that.

Now, when I go to the grocery store and use my debit card I can take $50 at a time and that keeps me with pocket change without worrying about a machine malfunction not handing me my money.

Lol. That's a good one. I think I might even be guilty of that one. But now that it's been pointed out to me I'll probably never say it again.

hijack Well, I don't particularly like new beginnings myself. And yes, it would be more correctly called a cold water heater.

Almost never....I hate ATM machines. If I do need some quick cash then I'm going to one that is associated with my bank so that I won't be charged $2.50 for the privilege of taking my own damn money out.

I'll use one from my bank, but try not to go to other ones. Mostly, I'll just go to the bank itself, though.

I use them to make deposits, but I rarely take cash out.

Way too much and prob. the reason my bank account isn't as much as I think it should be. It's because usually I only withdraw about $20 to $40 dollars each time I go and that adds up. And I do not go to ATM's unless it's my bank's ATM. If I need money and my bank's ATM isn't around....I'll go to a store, buy something really cheap and then get the cash back. I do not pay fees to withdraw my own money.

Eight times out of ten, my debit card is accepted where I'm going, so it's usually not a problem. My bank is a fairly common one though, so if I need quick cash, then I'll find a branch with an ATM. There's no way I'm using some 2nd rate banks local ATM machine that wants to charge a $3 fee. Nope. Echoing Nystyle: Nhaiyel does not get charged for withdrawal of her own money.
