Something everybody does, thinking about their death....when and how it'll come. And everybody wants to die in their sleep, but few people do. No one can predict the future, but how do you imagine your death? Will your final moments be peaceful or pained? I don't think my end is gonna be a peaceful one, but hopefully it won't be by inches.

Re: Pondering Your Mortality
I prefer not to ponder on death but rather life and living. Death is inevitable to all so why waste time thinking when and how you are going to die. We basically make our own choices, our own decisions so whatever happens, we are in control of our own destiny.

Re: Pondering Your Mortality
I find myself thinking about it almost every day and I try not to, I think more in terms of time slipping away from me and one day I'm going to wake up and be old and wrinkled and fat and slowed down and God knows what else. I really ought to stop it because it can be quite depressing because the fact is that everybody has to die and nothing can stop it, though we'd probably rejoice if something was found that could.
I'm a bit paranoid about a lot of things, so for me I'm always thinking if I fall down the stairs, I'm going to break my neck and kill myself, something like that, so I'm very uncomfortable climbing up and down sets of stairs I'm not familiar with, especially in people's basements, I HATE those.

Re: Pondering Your Mortality
I have, but really don't so much now. It will happen when it happens & it will for everyone. So I want to spend my time thinking about living. Some people think I spend too much time "in the now" but it's all I actually have.

I do hope I die in my sleep like my grandfather. Not screaming like his passangers.

Re: Pondering Your Mortality
All I hope is that it's peaceful and that it's a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time from now. I just got back from the hospital visiting a co-worker.......and it's not looking so good. The doctors told her family not to go home tonight because she's expected not to make it through the night. Truly sad and unfortunate. Only 34 yrs old.

Re: Pondering Your Mortality
It's something that crosses my mind from time to time, but it's not something I care to obsess over, because I know that it's inevitable. It will happen when it happens, and how it happens is largely up to God. It's unfortunate that sometimes people need a harsh reminder that death can happen for anyone at anytime for some to get the wake up and not waste their precious time on earth wallowing in complacency or negativity.

Re: Pondering Your Mortality
I don't think about it that much. Like Cece and Tony said, I focus more on the here and now. Occasionally a thought will cross my mind, but I don't really dwell on it, as it won't change anything.

Re: Pondering Your Mortality
Well, for some time now I have been using the personal statement:
More History than Future.
It is a reality that probably in the next couple or three decades I will cease.
