Allergic to anything? Empty Allergic to anything?

Post by Chris Thu Jan 06, 2011 10:20 am

To my knowledge, I'm not allergic to anything, but for Christmas I got a new pair of bedsheets. This weekend I put them on my bed. Admittedly I sleep nude, and not to be crass, but a day later my package was inching…bad. Yeah, I know how that sounds and I thought about the various possibilities as to why. Finally it crossed my mind that it may have been the sheets, so I washed them. Still, I itched. Then I decided to put on underwear. The inching stopped. It was the sheets. Weird. Must've have been the kind of fabric that didn't agree with me down there.

    Are you allergic to anything?

Years ago I put on new sheets without washing them and had an itch reaction all over. I think it is something to make them look pretty in the package but I have washed new sheets and clothes before putting my skin to them.

I have all sorts of dermatitis responses to products, namely all bandaids. This just occurred about 5 years ago - was never allergic to them before. All skin tapes too, except Durapore (silk tape).

I have been donating blood for years and they always used these colorful adhesive wraps to put pressure on the puncture and I have worn them with no problem until I became allergic to bandaids. Then my whole elbow swelled up from that wrap.

Strange how you can suddenly become allergic to something that you went decades without being allergic to it.

If something is prepared with a lot of garlic powder, it makes my nose itch. I am guessing it is more of a sensitivity than an actual allergy.

About half the pain meds on the planet & a mild latex allergy. I have to use the plastic or poly gloves for cleaning or my hands look like they've been scalded.
