No Child Left Behind - opinions? Empty No Child Left Behind - opinions?

Bush signed the NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND act into law in 2002, targeted at public schools to ensure it's students become more efficient in reading and math. This of course meant developing new tests, testing methods, etc. Last year Obama extended it, but supposedly made radical changes to it to make it more flexible and fair. What's your opinion of NCLB?

It was one of the worst ideas ever to enter the public school because the effect became punish the faster students who can get the curriculum and hold them as far back so they're in league with the snails of the classroom.

Accountability in public education is a good idea.
Implementation of accountability in public education has been poorly done.

It's like what Al Pacino said in And Justice for All: In theory, it's high commendable, however in practice it sucks.

Well, their headquarters in Washington DC made a good backdrop for this foto of my grandson in 2005. This was right across the street from our hotel.

There is a story behind this family pic. Grandson and I were riding the Metro from the National Zoo. We got off a stop short and I realized it at the last second. I said "come on" and jumped back into the train - but the doors shut before Kevin got on. There I was stuck on the train, leaving my 14-year-old grandson on the platform of a strange big city.

I did some frantic running thru DC streets getting back to that station and we eventually found each other - but it was a fright for a while.

Anyhow, this foto seemed so appropriate for that day.

BTW, I don't know that much about the program. My grandson was home schooled. That's how he was able to take off and travel the country with Opa at any time.
