When you are in crisis and seeking advice (or perspective) from a confidant, would you rather they be 'supportive' or brutally honest?

I think that a person can be both. My Mom has a talent for making me feel better and being honest with me at the same time. But if I had to choose between the two, I would choose someone being supportive instead of brutally honest. When I'm distressed, reality is the last thing I want to hear about.

Mostly brutally honest. But, there are those people who have really shitty delivery with their brutal honesty, so I don't confide much in that type.
