There have been talks about a possible "Titanic" (up until "Avatar", the highest grossing movie in history) re-release in 3D for years now, but without much movement. That looks like its about to change. It is being reported that Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet will be spreading their arms and yelling "I'm the king of the world" again in 2012, in 3D, just in time to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the original ship. The movie made over $600 million domestically and over $1.8 BILLION world wide in its original run back in 1997. Source: Hollywood.Com

I won't bother to sit through it [AGAIN] but there's gonna be drones of Titanic cultists and 90s nostalgia freaks lining up to see it so it's gonna make money.

It will make money for sure. So, how does everyone who worked on the film get residuals from that? Or don't they?

No one see this, please.
If this makes big bucks, every single past blockbuster movie will be re-released in 3D.
Stop this madness before it startes.

I'm remembering that man bouncing off the motor blade. I'm sure that'll be lovely to see in 3D.

LOL
I have the VHS (lol) box edition from when it was released back in '98. That's enough. I have no desire to put any more money into that boat.

I don't really care about it being re released in 3-D, but I do really love the movie. I'd personally love to see it again at a movie theater. That'll bring back some fond movie-going memories for me.

I will definitely see this, if only to help it beat out Avatar which had no right to break Titanic's record.
Couldn't care less about 3D since I think its the stupidest thing ever.

Will it be on blu ray by then? That's what still amazes me is that it isn't available on blu ray disc.

I doubt it now. They probably won't release anything commercially related to it until after the rerelease. Then you'll get the blu ray boxset, with the action figures and claymation boat.

Im surprised, just like the DVD you buy it and then they come out with the Directors Cut and then a few months later the box set comes out with 500 extra minutes of footage never before shown.

Yeah that was just not right that Avatar booted Titanic out of the number one spot! Im going to see it when they release it in 3D.

Most of the reason it did better was that the ticket prices are much higher now than they were 12 years ago, plus the 3D thing.
