I have a hard time with apologies, even if I'm in the wrong. I think it's a fear that my apology might be rejected. Now if I'm not in the wrong and I'm actually right, apologies are virtually non-existent.

I'm terrible at apologies, especially if I was technically in the right about an issue, but may have been too steely about how I presented the fact. Those are the toughest (and most likely) apologies I have to make. If I was wrong about something futile, then it's not that big a deal.

I don't mind it, so I think I must be okay at it. If I'm wrong, then I have no problem apologizing and doing it right. If I'm upset, I may apologize or I may not, but when I calm down, I always apologize, even if it's only to say "I'm really sorry that we were fighting last night".

I'm fine with apologies. I treat them like I did vegetables I hated as a kid, just swallow it without trying to ponder it. Just say it and get it done with. If I was wrong, then I was wrong.

I have had work situations where the CEO asked me to make a formal apology to some bitching co-worker "for the sake of the company." Actually, I can be quite eloquent in a memo, putting forth all the "possible misunderstandings for which I am sincerely sorry."
