In 1948, most places considered common sexual practice as perversion. His research said it was just as natural and being done in secret by a large part of the population.
He was ahead of his time for going public with this information and exposing the lie that proper society was living.
Being a part of the sexual revolution of the '60s and '70s we may have been influenced by his findings and rebelled against our parents generation who were doing much what we young ppl did, but did it in secret and denied it.
I believe in open sexual expression - have done open sexual enjoyment and think Kinsey the pioneer that made much of our sexual openness today possible.
The Kinsey Institute is still active in Sex and Reproductive research at Indiana University and I have contributed both artifacts and my own (ongoing) sexual history for archiving there.
