What are some of the things that you do to lift your spirits when you're feeling low, and how well does it work?

Probably sounds crazy but I listen to the blues. I do anyway but I'll listen exclusively when I'm really down. It works for me.

I think of all the good things that are in my life. I might go out to a store and buy something for myself, or talk to a friend who understands what I may be going through.

Lately when that happens I look up funny videos that can make me laugh, if they work, after a few minutes I've about forgotten what I was upset about.

I tend to do that - Hmmm, got a 550 DVD collection.
550? You say that like it's a significant number. My father has almost 2,600. 2,598 to be exact. I get little enough chance to bust your chops, Mr. I'm-Going-To-The-Beach-In-January I'll give you this. You've probably seen more movies at a theater than he has.

Well, I just went out today and bought six more. Like that old Chinese proverb, "A journey of 2,600 DVD's starts with ..."
BTW, if it makes you all feel any better, when I opened the door this morning to go on my shirtless run, I was hit with a northern blast of 45-degree air. Kind of a surprise. It barely made 60 today and was a bit chilly riding my bike in shorts & T-shirt. (I really don't like to wear clothes)

What cheers me up when I'm down is watching some of my favorite movies, as others have said. Music and company sometimes makes it worse. I need a more natural distraction than a blatant one.

Sometimes I'll talk to my Mom about whatever is bothering me. If I don't feel like talking with her or that's just simply not enough, I'll wallow in self-pity. So, sometimes I really don't do anything when I'm blue. I'll just lie in bed and drag around the house in my robe. It's like a virus, you just gotta let it run it's course.

No. No schadenfreude from me. But if it were 45° around here, I'd probably be in shorts and a T-shirt myself Peace to you on your DVD journey, Grasshopper!

Spending time with my son is always the perfect fix for whatever ails me. Also, going riding makes me feel better all the time. So does working out and shopping.
