What's happening in your city?
Anything big or small: from local news, weather, construction on the sidewalk, a concert in the park, etc., etc.

It's cold. And windy. Chicago has nothing on this.

A little boy went missing here in Oregon some months ago and they still haven't been able to locate him. It's been almost a year so now the search is being done with his possible death in mind.

Ppl where you folks live don't wanta hear it.Rockbird wrote:It's cold. And windy. Chicago has nothing on this.
But, I had to run the A/C last nite, it was just a little too warm for my liking. Biked to work in shorts & T-shirt this morning and worked up a sweat.
Went to the beach for a couple hours yesterday. It was totally sunny with a cool breeze, so a perfect beach day.

And we'll be able to do the same in about 3 to 4 months, so you really ain't saying anything. Sidenote: if you live in the Northeast, Midwest or anywhere where you are fortunate enough to experience ALL four seasons and get a *true* winter.....stop complaining. It's supposed to snow. It's WINTER. You can't change Mother Nature. This is a typical Northeastern winter. I'm tired of these people complaining about it fucking snowing. Get a few years with some mild winters and all of a sudden, you get comfortable, like you really ain't gonna see snow anymore. Complain about how people aren't cleaning it up like they should.

NY I agree with you about the northeast winters just that this particular winter has been pretty hard and has inhibited me from doing necessary things like going to physical therapy, I have missed 5 sessions already this month because of the snow. Also since they are not plowing the side streets no more than once, its horrendous driving on all ice and walking on it is even more treacherous.

Well I disagree. I HATE Winter. I hate snow. I hate ice. I hate cold. I hate how it slows down commutes. I hate how my gas bill is higher. I hate the way the cold air makes my skin turn blue. I hate the way it makes my eyes water. I hate how I have to overdress up in thick clothing to protect myself from cold, flu or pneumonia. I hate having to let my car warm up. I hate having to lay down salt. I having to shovel snow. I hate having to carry my shoes in a bag because I'm forced to wear boots to walk outside through snow, ice and slush.
I don't even like snow men and snow ball fights. Winter sucks ass and I hate everything about it. It's got NO redeeming qualities IMO and I envy anybody who lives in a region of the country where it's 60 degrees in Feb.

It's a hassle because of that. The clean-up of the city streets suck. A measly 12 inches of snow shouldn't shut down NYC. But I'm so sick of these whiny ass people I see on the news talking about they wish it wouldn't snow anymore this winter. Bitch, you live in NY. And I'm pretty sure you choose to. Shut up.

Well I disagree.
Disagree about what? Is it not supposed to snow in the winter in the northern part of this country?

Wooow. I personally wouldn't continue living in Ohio if I hated winter that much.

I love Winter. I just hate snow. And Boston is built on hills, so the wind is ridiculous.

Re: What's happening in your city?
The flip side of that is about 5 years ago I broke my leg. I was released from the hospital a day before Hurricane Wilma came thru and knocked out all the lights and knocked down trees. I was surprised that my home care nurse showed up the next day - but I was delayed in getting a brace and starting my PT.Tony Marino wrote:

I know the feeling. I spent my first 18 winters in St. Louis, which my bro-in-law tells me is getting more snow right now. I hate winter and after getting out of the service never thot about moving back there. (Had just gone thru the blizzard of '67 in Maryland) Went to New Orleans and later to Miami. Sounds like you should consider the sub-tropics (but not right now - our unemployment is one of the highest in the nation)GrayWolf wrote:

Re: What's happening in your city?
Right now it's -17 degrees out and icing, and it's not looking much better for the rest of the week, in fact tomorrow it's supposed to be in the single digits with 40 miles an hour winds ba-lowing. I am so thankful our cat (who is not allowed in the house) has her own dog house and her own heating pad. And I feel sorry for the other cats who roam around all the time and don't have an indoors to go to.

I think you should consider moving. Winter is annoying, but I expect it to be. Personally, I'm not one of those people who is befuddled by the emergence of snow and chill.
