Swimming the English Channel Empty Swimming the English Channel

Post by Supernova Tue Feb 01, 2011 3:15 am

I'm going to go on a limb and guess not too many, if ANY, members of the Chamber here have ever tried swimming the English Channel. My question is, would you like to try it? Do you see yourself trying for it some day?

I'm a good swimmer, in our pool in the side yard, in the ocean I doubt I would do very well at all, and if I ever did try to swim the Channel, even if I trained for a whole year I doubt very much I would even make it to the 1 mile mark, but all the same I would like the opportunity to try it some day and see just how far I could get. How about everyone else?

I know I could swim a mile (in a pool anyway, I've done it) and I've run a marathon but I don't think I could swim The English Channel. It's not something I would put on my Bucket List anyway. If I had a Bucket List.

I'd drown. I'm a decent swimmer, but not that good.

No way. I am a poor swimmer, and fearful of water, so it wouldn't be anything I would aspire to train for.

The English Channel I believe is located between France and Britain. I'm not gonna travel 3000 miles just to drown.
