Live Action, an anti-abortion group, shot the video, which appears to show a clinic manager advising a supposed "pimp" and his underage prostitute how to apply for services without attracting law enforcement interest and having a mandatory report issued, according to ABC News. Both suggestions would have been inappropriate, according to Parenthood officials, and in violation of state and federal law.
Republicans have long denounced the funding of Planned Parenthood, which provides low-cost services for sexual and reproductive health care, mainly because it provides abortions. A bill now in the House would cut the $350 million a year the organization receives, according to ABC News.
Planned Parenthood said the video was part of a "smear" campaign by longtime foe Live Action. It said that similar incidents occurred in other locations. The organization filed a complaint with federal authorities. The only video release so far was the one from New Jersey.
Several years ago, a conservative activist James O'Keefe released controversial audio recordings of a Planned Parenthood official discussing and accepting inappropriate funding. O'Keefe appears in the video in a pimp outfit with another person dressed as a prostitute. Community organizations tied to ACORN gave him advice on how to get a brothel funded. | The government should not be using our tax dollars to murder children.
If a woman wants to kill her child she should use HER money to do it- not the hard earned money I work for. | |
