Have you ever been, or would you ever go? I have never been to Mardi Gras, but wouldn't mind going sometime, until whenever that happens though, I'll have to be content to just stay at home, put on the Mardi Gras music and make a big King Cake and some of the traditional fish dishes.

Re: Mardi Gras
I might go if the opportunity presented itself. Not a big thing for me. My dad had this chick who always went when I was a kid, so she always brought me back beads. I kind of hate that memory.

I didn't mean to sound all "woe is me"!!
I love a good time, but really, things there just seem kinda cheap to me to spend the money to go. I have played volleyball topless for beads here at home at a Mardi Gras party...so I get the quest for beads, just not enough to make me travel to show it all to everyone!

Re: Mardi Gras
Someone I used to work with who went to school down there told me Mardi Gras was French for "show us your tits".

I have a friend that lives in N.O. and invites me down every year for Mardi Gras. I am going to take him up on it eventually.

Re: Mardi Gras
I don't have any desire to go to Mardi Gras, it's just never been a big deal to me or an interest of mine.

Re: Mardi Gras
I lived in New Orleans for a dozen years. My first Mardi Gras I went downtown to the chaos and festivities. That was 1968.
It soon thereafter became too commercial, with non-Catholic, non-Orleanians coming down for some "show-me-ur-tits" partying than the Fat Tuesday local festivity that it was. For most of my time in the city I tried as best I could to avoid the crowds when the parades ran (Not an easy task since it disrupted every access from one side of town to the other).
So, yeah, I went to Mardi Gras and was stuck in Mardi Gras a few times.

Re: Mardi Gras
I wanna go one day. I hear Bourbon St. is something to experience. I'm sure my drinking abilities pales in comparison to the folks down there.
